SW REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER
Key responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to: providing daily interactive supervisory guidance, assistance to and monitoring the work performance and customer service of subordinate communication operators involved in public safety call taking, dispatching, RMS/Regional database/TCIC/NCIC and EMD activities.
Applicant requirements include:
Ø Typed letter of intent (essay style) to be submitted to the Communication Manager. Include your interest in the position, goals for the program, qualifications and/or assets you possess and how you believe you can effectively apply your qualities.
Ø Employee must have two (2) years of full time public safety communications experience. Experience in a medium (8 staff) or larger environment is preferred, but not required.
Ø Employee must have been a departmental employee for a minimum of six (6) months and possess an overall satisfactory (or greater) performance on their previous evaluation.
Ø Employee can not currently be on any type of disciplinary or employment probation.
Ø Employee must have a letter of recommendation in support of their request for the position from a shift supervisor, program administrator and/or a participating agency member.
Ø Oral board review.
Ø Must have previous supervisory experience
Ø Previous CTO, TCIC, TLETS, CPR, EMD, is preferred, but not required.
Salary Range: $3,571 monthly, plus benefits

EXPERIENCED PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER
The City of DeSoto is currently accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher in the Regional Communications Center. Responsibilities include: answering incoming 9-1-1 and non-emergency phone lines; processing incoming information while simultaneously performing dispatch functions for Police, Fire and EMS by means of a computer aided dispatch system (CAD).
Requirements: Must have at least one year of Public Safety Dispatching Experience. High School diploma or GED; ability to perform duties under pressure; ability to multi-task; possess a valid 40 hour TCLEOSE Telecommunicators certificate or possess the ability to obtain the certificate within one year of employment; Valid Texas Driver License; Reliable Transportation to and from work; No applicant may be hired with more than three (3) moving violations within the past twelve (12) month period or more than five moving violations within the past three (3) year period. A conviction of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving under the Influence (DUI) of Drugs within the last five (5) years invokes automatic disqualification for all positions.
Applicants must successfully complete a background investigation, skills assessment screening, interview, drug screen and hearing test. This position requires shift work, holidays and weekends.

Starting Salary: $2,826-$3,586 monthly, plus benefits
