Jeff Haislet became the new President of the Texas Chapter of APCO in Lake Conroe during the Chapter’s Fall Conference. Jeff takes office from Jayme Cole who presided over the Chapter for two consective years.

Other members of the board are Becky Stewart, President Elect; Keith Bickley, 1st Vice President; Bill Keller, 2nd Vice President; Kim Killion, Secretary; Wanda McCarley, Executive Committee Representative; and Ken Yoder, Frequency Coordinator.

Haislet is the Communications Director for the East Texas Medical Center (ETMC). He has been with ETMC since 1994 after leaving the city of El Paso. While in El Paso he was the project manager for a $15millon 800 MHz Trunked Radio project. Haislet has 24 years in Public Safety, starting as a patrol man in the Bryan Police Department. He left Bryan to become the Executive Director of the Brazon County 9-1-1 District. Haislet is married to Mary who is a Trauma ICU BSN Nurse with ETMC and they have two sons, John and Jason, who both attend Texas A& M. When not working he enjoys camping and backpacking.

President Elect, Becky Stewart, is the Emergency Services Director for the Capital Area Planning Council (CAPCO) and has been in that position for four years. Prior to CAPCO, Stewart was the Communications Manager for the Austin Police Department. Before taking the job at APD, she worked for 20 years at the Sedgwick County Communications Center, starting as a call taker and ending as the Director of the Center. She has more than 30 years experience in Public Safety Communications from small centers to large metropolitan ones. Stewart’s experience with Computer Aided Dispatch Systems, 800 Trunked Radio Systems and 9-1-1 Network has allowed her to provide support to the 34 PSAPs within the CAPCO ten county region. She is married with one daughter and two grandsons.

First Vice President, Keith Bickley, has been with the City of Lufkin since 1987, starting as a fire dispatcher, he was cross-trained when the fire and police dispatch centers were consolidated in 1989. Playing an active role as dispatcher and trainer, he was influential for many of the policies and procedures still in place today. In 1990 Bickley began training fellow dispatcher in a variety of law enforcement and EMS related fields including EMD and CPR.
